New Underground Mine Truck

Joy Global recently debuted its newest offering for the hard rock mining market, the Joy 16TD truck. Based on the popular DT-1804 truck model, the 16TD features lower hood lines for improved visibility, a digital operator display, shorter turning radius, ground level maintenance and faster ramp speeds. Cummins QSB 6.7 EPA/MSHA Tier 3, MTU OM906LA EPA Tier 3/EU Stage III, or MTU OM906LA EPA/MSHA Tier 2 diesel options are available, delivering power via a Dana CL320 series converter to a Dana 32000 series powershift transmission with four forward and four reverse gears. Standard payload is a little more than 35,000 lb (16,000 kg) with an operating weight of almost 40,000 lb (17,900 kg). Loaded driving speeds on zero grade range from 2.1 mi/h in first gear to 13.2 mi/h in top gear; speed on a 10% grade ranges from 2.1 mi/h to 6.5 mi/h in third gear. A 45° turning angle provides an outside turning radius of 237 in. (6 m). The 16TD is commercially available now and replaces the DT-1804 model.
