Paus Turns Model 852 TSL into a Scaler
German utility vehicle specialist Hermann
Paus has developed a scaling kit for use
with its basic 852 TSL underground utility
vehicle. The kit, according to Paus, provides
new and reinforced connections for the rock
breaker and boom; protection for moving
parts, hoses and the operator; a front
scraper blade; optional hydraulic supports
at the sides; and a double or triple telescopic
boom for a greater scaling reach. The
machine is equipped with a 75-kW Deutz
BF4M 2012 engine. The hydrostatic drive
ensures easy operation and the machine
can be driven underground at a maximum
speed of 30 km/h. The ROPS/FOPS cabin,
especially designed for operation in mines,
is equipped with a protective roof and
optionally with air conditioning. All controls
can be operated easily from the cabin or by
remote control. Paus says the combination
of articulated steering (±45°) and swinging
boom (±90°) makes the scaler a unique
machine, providing high maneuverability
while working or moving around the mine.
The sturdy triple telescopic boom has a
range of action of approximately 8 m. The
recommended breaker is the NPK model
2003 hydraulic hammer.
