Gel Packs Keep Workers Comfortable in Hot or Cold

GelCool Systems offers professional-grade warming and cooling gel packs for use in hard hats from MSA, North, Omega II, Bullard and others. A key design feature of the gel packs is that they maintain helmet fit and alignment, thus retaining the safety design of the helmet while providing thermal protection. According to GelCool Systems, their large size gel pack provides warming (or summer cooling) of long duration without a surge of heat when first put on. While most users are comfortable with this size in hard hats, others may prefer a smaller available pack that is half the weight—6.5 oz—of the larger size. Cooler-shaped small- and mediumsized warming enclosures for the packs fit easily in the cab of a standard utility truck and operate on 12v or 24v current (from the cigarette lighter socket, or they may be hard-wired) or fixed 110v current. The enclosures house the gel packs and warm or cool them as required.
